Change Mental Health

Our Partnership

Change Mental Health is a mental health charity providing non-clinical and person-centred support to people affected by mental illness. The charity has been running for more than 50 years and is the charity partner of the British Hydropower Association.

The charity places people at the heart of what it does by providing transformational support to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need, when they need it and in a way that works best for them. The charity seeks to change society by changing attitudes, fighting stigma and influencing government to ensure a better quality of life for those affected by mental illness.

Change Mental Health supports over 7,000 people per year and hosts an Advice and Support Service to help people find the support that most fits their needs through signposting. They also offer emotional support to combat money worries and advice on what to do in emergencies. Everyone can be affected by mental health. It is estimated that one in four people will experience mental health issues in their lifetime. Change Mental Health began after a journalist penned an article about supporting his son who experienced schizophrenia. From there, carers rallied their support through similar encounters and the charity supporting those affected by severe and enduring mental illness was born.

If you are a member of the British Hydropower Association and wish to discuss a potential discounted collaboration with Change Mental Health, contact us at: info@british-hydro.org

How Can You Support People in Your Organisation?

Change Mental Health offers mental health awareness training to businesses, individuals and young people to give them the knowledge and skills to fight stigma and contribute to creating a supportive and mentally healthy environment. All informed by people with lived experience, Change Mental Health offers bespoke training and resilience-based programmes to promote workplaces and communities where everyone’s mental health can flourish.

Change Mental Health runs the National Rural Mental Health Forum, which is a strong, dedicated network of over 240 organisations driving change to enable rural people to be open about their mental health. It delivers regular seminars in partnership with guest speakers from organisations within the network to speak about key topics and issues related to mental health and well-being in rural Scotland.
