25/01/2024

The British Hydropower Association (BHA) were given a valuable opportunity to promote hydropower during an evidence session with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero committee on the 24th January 2024. The session, titled “Keeping the Power On: Our Future Energy Technology Mix,” featured key industry figures, including representatives from the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council) and Hydrogen UK.

Our CEO, Kate Gilmartin, along with Alex Campbell from the LDES Council and Clare Jackson from Hydrogen UK, provided insights during the committee meeting. This event followed the momentum gained from previous engagements and the noteworthy Parliamentary debate on Tidal Range, reinforcing the association’s commitment to advancing hydropower technology.

During the evidence session, the BHA highlighted the numerous benefits of hydropower, emphasizing its status as a clean, reliable, and proven energy solution. The association underscored the importance of hydropower in the future energy technology mix, contributing to the ongoing dialogue surrounding energy security and achieving net-zero goals.
